A GOOD FIRST START

A little guidance.
A clearer first scan.

Activate your invitation, scan supported temporary files and learn how to bring an item back.

Apple Silicon · macOS 14 or later · One Mac per beta key

Know which build you’re trying. Version 0.2.7 is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. Clean requires an invitation key. Your seven days start at first successful activation, not when you download the ZIP.

01. Install the Mac app

  1. Check Apple menu → About This Mac. You need an Apple Silicon chip and macOS 14 or later.
  2. Get the available ZIP from the download section. Double-click it in Finder to extract Disklumo.app.
  3. Quit an older running copy, then move Disklumo.app to Applications and open it there.
  4. If macOS reports a problem, keep the exact message for support. Do not disable macOS security settings.

Updates keep the application identity and local cleanup history. Scan results and the review queue reset when you quit the app.

02. Activate and scan

  1. Choose Activate beta and paste your invitation key. The first successful activation starts seven days on this Mac.
  2. Choose Scan my Mac. For broader access, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access and enable Disklumo. You can also scan with the access already available.
  3. If macOS asks you to reopen the app after changing access, reopen it and scan again. Folders that could not be checked are listed in the results.
  4. Open App caches, Browser caches or Old logs to inspect the available items. No files are selected or removed automatically.

A scan can find no eligible files. The beta checks supported temporary locations; it does not scan every file type or promise a fixed amount of space.

03. Review, move, restore

  1. Inspect the items and their locations. If a related app is open, save your work and close it, then scan again.
  2. Select only the items you want to clean. Choose Review & clean, review the confirmation, then choose Move to Trash.
  3. Read the result for each item. Choose Restore from the result, or open Recover files later.
  4. Space is released after Trash is emptied in Finder. Leave Trash unemptied while checking recovery.

Restore needs the verified item to remain in Trash and its original parent folder to remain available. It refuses to overwrite an existing destination. If it is blocked, inspect the original path and Trash in Finder before taking further action.

04. Your seven-day access

  • The deadline is saved by the activation service. Reinstalling or reopening the app does not restart it.
  • One beta key works on one Mac. Contact support if the key is already linked to a different Mac.
  • Connect for activation. Verified access can work offline for up to 24 hours during the same Mac boot, within the seven-day period. Connect again after restarting your Mac.
  • After expiry, new cleanup requires valid access. Scanning and recovering files remain available, with no automatic charge.

Your files and scan results stay local. Activation sends the invitation key and a device public key; the service stores hashes and activation times.

Something doesn’t look right?

Send your Disklumo version, Mac chip, macOS version, steps to reproduce and the exact message. For layout issues, a cropped screenshot helps. Remove private filenames and account details first.
